Exploring Paris After the Olympic Games

If you’re staying at my place or somewhere nearby, welcome to one of the most charming areas of Paris! Nestled near the picturesque Rue Cler, you’re perfectly located for a true Parisian experience. Beyond the Eiffel Tower, there’s so much to see, do, and taste. Here’s a personal guide to some of my favorite places to explore, dine, and unwind after the excitement of the Olympic Games.

Discovering the Charm of Rue Cler and Beyond

Rue Cler offers a delightful taste of Parisian life. Its cafés, fromageries, and markets provide the perfect starting point for your stay.

Once you’ve soaked in the atmosphere, here are some top spots just a stroll away:

  • Musée du Quai Branly – Jacques Chirac: A stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower, this museum showcases a diverse collection of indigenous art from across the globe. Don't miss the serene gardens around it.

  • Musée Rodin: I often send my guests here for a peaceful escape into art and nature. The sculptures, like The Thinker, and the lovely gardens make for a perfect visit.

  • Champ de Mars: Stretching out beneath the Eiffel Tower, this park is great for a picnic or an evening walk. Pack some local treats from Rue Cler and enjoy Parisian life with a view.

  • Les Invalides: A little further afield but well worth the visit, this grand site houses Napoleon’s Tomb and offers a fascinating dive into French military history.

Dining and Drinking Like a Local

Paris is all about food, and you don’t have to go far to find something exceptional. Here are my go-to spots:

  • Le Café du Marché: My local hangout! This café is the heart of Rue Cler for me—perfect for any meal of the day. Whether you’re grabbing a quick coffee or a full dinner, this bustling spot will make you feel like a local in no time.

  • La Fontaine de Mars: Just a short walk away, this restaurant offers authentic French cuisine in a charming setting. Reese Witherspoon even celebrated her daughter’s birthday here, and it’s a favorite for anyone wanting a true Parisian dining experience.

  • Avenue de Saxe Market: If you’re staying on a Saturday, don’t miss this local market. I love walking through and picking up fresh produce, cheeses, and baked goods. It’s the perfect spot to gather supplies for a picnic or to enjoy the lively market atmosphere.

An Unforgettable Evening on the Seine

A cruise on the Seine is always a highlight for my guests. The Bateau Mouche is the perfect way to see some of Paris' most iconic sights, like the Eiffel Tower, Notre-Dame, and the Louvre, from the river. For an even more magical experience, take an evening cruise to see the city sparkle.

Afterward, head to Fluctuart, a floating art gallery and bar. I love this spot for its mix of contemporary art and relaxed atmosphere. Grab a drink, enjoy the art, and take in the views of the Seine at sunset.

A Special Dinner with a View

For a truly unforgettable dinner, Paris has some fantastic options that combine gourmet dining with spectacular views:

  • Les Ombres: Located on the rooftop of the Musée du Quai Branly, this restaurant offers breathtaking views of the Eiffel Tower. The glass ceiling ensures you’ll be dining with the tower illuminated right in front of you, creating an atmosphere that is as magical as the food itself.

  • Rivera Fuega: Another stunning choice for dinner, Rivera Fuega sits right on the banks of the Seine. The Mediterranean-inspired menu is exquisite, and the views of the Eiffel Tower make it a perfect spot for a romantic or celebratory evening.

Other Hidden Gems Nearby

  • Pont Alexandre III: This is one of Paris' most beautiful bridges, and I always recommend taking a stroll here at sunset for one of the best photo opportunities in the city.

  • Trocadéro Gardens: For a perfect view of the Eiffel Tower, head across the Seine to these gardens. It’s one of my favorite spots for photography and people-watching.

Whether you’re wandering through local markets, cruising down the Seine, or enjoying a gourmet meal with stunning views, this area offers something for everyone.
